Role Summary
We are looking for a Privacy Manager APEC to work in a best-in-class legal department. Reporting to the Privacy Operations Officer, as the Privacy Manager, you will be supporting the Privacy Operations Officer in their day-to-day role, and occasionally representing him at leadership meetings and other key committees. You will help steer and support a small team of privacy champions, who make sure the right activities and checks are carried out to ensure Wejo is APPI compliant and address any issues identified. You will also be a key escalation point for Privacy issues
Key Responsibilities – what will I do mostly
- Assisting the Privacy Operations Officer in defining Wejo’s privacy governance framework and implementing measures to manage data use in compliance with global data protection regulations including but not limited to the APPI and the PDPA;
- Working with our amazing key stakeholders in the review of operations and projects and related data processing to ensure compliance with data privacy legislation, and where required, advising on and monitoring data protection impact assessments;
- Knowledge of APPI and other International data protection legislation essential
- Providing support on investigations into potential personal data breaches and incident response
- Advising on data subject rights requests, including data subject access requests and other requests from individuals
- Working with different stakeholders across the organisation to help advise on data privacy law issues
- Collaborating with other functions, including privacy champions and Information Security to maintain records of all data assets and exports
- Coordinating, conducting, and monitoring data privacy audit and presenting management information to senior leadership
- Training, coaching and upskilling colleagues to raise awareness of data privacy issues
- Working with the local DPO to ensure compliance with all regional privacy requirements in respected regions
Essential Skills / Knowledge & Experience – what I need to do the job
- Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Wejo and all our stakeholders
- In depth knowledge and experience in Privacy/Data Protection
- Excellent knowledge of the APPI and other Asian specifications and guidance
- Broad experience leading a Privacy function in a complex and dynamic organisation
- Excellent understanding of Privacy frameworks, enterprise risk frameworks and experience in developing and embedding policy
- Ability to explain complex privacy issues in simple business language will come as second nature to you
- Possess communication skills to interface with a wide-ranging audience, which may include the Executive team to data subjects, from managers to IT colleagues and lawyers (and able to create fans along the way!)
- Experience in risk management and supporting oversight and assurance activities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- High level of attention to detail
- Big 4 consulting experience preferred
- To work to deadlines in an efficient and effective manner
- Track record in managing and coaching privacy champions to ensure they are self-sufficient and can complete their tasks to a high quality
