Head of Risk Management

Role Summary
Reporting to the SVP, Risk Management and Compliance, the Head of Risk Management is responsible for overseeing the company Risk Management processes and Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) in keeping with regulation and internal policy requirements, including ISO27001, ISO27005 and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
Key Responsibilities – what I do mostly
- Oversee and work with the Risk Management team to embed the Wejo Risk Management Process across the company to align risk management with Wejo's risk appetite
- Oversee the development and implementation of an automated Governance, Risk and Compliance system to improve the overall risk management program and help integrate it further into the business
- Maintain a culture of business confidence in the risk framework by ensuring that it is understood and practical for use by all parts of the company
- Work with a team to implement or improve controls and monitoring requirements
- Own and evolve as necessary Wejo's Risk Management and BCMS policies, procedures and plans
- Oversee the ongoing maintenance and improvement of Wejo's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategy (with alignment to relevant regulations and standards)
- Work with the team and other members of the organization to ensure that BCMS processes are regularly tested
- Conduct risk and business continuity training and draft communications to help raise awareness throughout the organization
- Supervise a staff of two or more who will carry out many of the day-to-day risk management and BCMS activities
Other Responsibilities – what I will be doing sometimes
- Support audit-related activities where required
- Report periodically to senior management and Wejo Board of Directors, if necessary, on the state of the Risk Management Program and the BCMS
- Support the SVP, Risk Management and Compliance with department-level initiatives from time to time
Essential Skills / Knowledge & Experience – what I need to do the job
- In-depth knowledge of risk management concepts and principles
- 10+ years of experience in a risk management role
- Knowledge of Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery processes and principles
- Ability to develop processes and controls and manage their implementation
- Ability to interact with and present to senior leadership and other key stakeholders
- Experience leading and directing work with both internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment
- Experience in operating a risk management process within an ISO27001 environment is preferred but not required
- Experience managing and testing a BCMS
- Experience managing a team
- Understanding of and exposure to different approaches to risk articulation
